Southern Connecticut https://www.timothykeeneyphotography.com/photo/spruce-brook1-waterfall-connecticut/ https://www.timothykeeneyphotography.com/images/xl/spruce-brook1-waterfall-connecticut.jpg Array On August 18, 2024, the area around Connecticut's Spruce Brook Falls received between 8 and 16 inches of rain in just a few hours, causing locally catastrophic flooding.  I had last visited Spruce Brook several years earlier and remembered it as a bright green, moss-covered gorge.  When I returned the following spring, it looked like a completely different place.  The moss on the rock faces along the creek had been washed away, revealing the banded gneiss beneath.  Much of the soil on the upper banks was gone as well, leaving exposed roots of trees and other plants.  It will likely be years before the area looks as it did before the flood, but in the meantime, we can enjoy the newly revealed stone and watch the landscape recover.  Fine Art Limited Edition of 50.
